Nostaliga

Today I was reminded of a favorite childhood memory. There used to be a used book store near us which also sold comics. The thing was, these were all used comics and were put there in random orders.

Nowadays, when I go into comic book stores and finish getting all of the new issues, I look at the back issue boxes. They are all organized and the more I go, the more I know which issues they will have there.

I miss the fun of going through those used bins and finding comics for $0.25. I walked out with some good comics then that I normally would not have bought. And I never knew what I'd find.

I guess it's less fun when you go in with a list (albeit, a mental one) and get the issues you knew you were going to, with maybe one or two back issues you found.

Cable Companies

We decided to go with Satellite in our new house over cable, since cable is way too expensive.

Now I just read a report that it might be sports programming that's upping cable prices. Senator McCain spoke pretty much my thoughts in this situation...why can't we choose channels from a "menu" instead of getting the channels the cable company says you should for the amount you are willing to pay?

The argument against is that smaller cable companies would die.

Then I see that a new network for gambling is starting up. Really, this has gone far enough. I have to admit, I do watch mainly Sci-Fi and Cartoon Network, so I'm not against specialty stations. But when we get to the point where we devote one to gambling, I think we've crossed some line.

The only way to really cut down the crap is to give people the power.

LET US DECIDE!
