Shiv'kala's Ramblings

Shiv'kala's Ramblings

I downloaded the Google Toolbar for IE and it has a Blogger button on it, where you can hit it and it will create a post with the name of the site as the title and a link. I figured it would be fun to hit it while I was on my Blog. Such is my humor.

Read through my archives and I mostly didn't cringe at what I posted. Hope someone else is reading this, but since I haven't posted in a while, I fear the people who might have read it a few months ago gave up.

Anyway, the return of Random Thoughts:

1. I've watched most of Stargate SG-1 at this point and the show ROCKS.

2. Season 7 of SG-1 ended a few weeks ago, just about the time the Season 6 syndicated episodes went into re-runs before the last few episodes. And the Sci-Fi airings are in Season 5, the point I started watching the show over last summer. So at this point, it's rare for me to see an episode I haven't seen before. I'm finally reaching the end of this road, until Season 8 begins in June.

3. Two of my favorite comics are now consistant Best Sellers, which means it's harder to find them. So good for the series, bad for me.

4. Justice League is in reruns and it'll be a few months until we see the Season Finale. And X-Men Evolution is over for good.

5. However, South Park is great, and last week's episode focusing on the Passion was great.

6. Being a parent is hard work. I forgot how weird it is having an infant in the house.

Dude, I got you a...

Sunday night was rough, got the "wish you'd do more around the house" speech from the wife and I was upset that I can't seem to calm my son down. He's been fussy over the past week and to be honest, sometimes I do take it personally.

So when I got home Monday, I had two options, forget Sunday night or sink back into my depression to keep up appearances.

All of you at home are probably saying "choice A", as if this was a game show and you were yelling at the screen while a dumbass contestant stutters and ums as the host gets ready to say "I need your answer please." Bonus points to all of you who said, the dumbass picked "choice B."

Which was the worst possible choice to pick, because my wife had organized a "Daddy appreciation" thing where my daughter met me at the door and gave me cards she made for me.

Then my wife tells me that she got our early Father's and Mother's day gift today and would I like to see it. I was suspicious, who was the gift from ("us, to ourselves"), why did we get it now ("I didn't think I'd we'd get it this quick") and so on.

I was expecting a treadmill, it's something we've talked about forever and if we're talking gifts for the both of us. But, the boxes underneath the blanket were too small to be parts of a treadmill.

I lifted the blanket to find a new computer, a Dell, actually. My computer was still good, but was experiencing more and more problems, including losing sound recently and a few weeks ago it wouldn't even start.

As if that wasn't enough, she had also gotten us the flatscreen monitor. Rock.

Of course, as with all things, there is some bad news...this is the first time I got a new computer while the other one still functioned ("Starscream...wait...I still function!") The past two computers were emergency replacements for computers that had crashed and had no hope of ever retrieving the data on them. So I'm trying to figure out the best way to transfer the files and now, it seems, the old computer will go in our bedroom for my wife to use while I'm on the new one.

It's not bad news, per se, but it's a pain trying to figure out the cheapest way to do this, especially since we're probably going to have to set up a wireless network to get both computers on the net.

But Dude, I got a Dell...

Return of the Mack

Hello again friends.

Haven't done this in a while, but I've got a few thoughts to post in subsequent, well, posts.

First off, to catch you up to speed, I've settled into my new house and almost two months ago my wife gave birth to our son.

More later.
